Peter Leach Advisory Board

The Peter Leach Advisory Board was set up to support family businesses and provide practical advice with the aim of increasing the longevity of family businesses and formalising best practice within the sector.

Its  members meet to discuss and debate key themes, relevant to family businesses in order to generate practical advice  and tools of real value to the family business community. It also hosts an annual event during which our expert Advisory Board members discuss the themes from their round table meetings and debate questions from the floor, sharing practical advice and best practice thinking. Zoë founded Carte Blanche Communications in 2006; a communications advisory firm focused on the wealth management and alternatives sectors - delivering the communications and marketing resources private and merchant banks, hedge funds and family offices need to acquire and retain clients, manage change and build brands. She is recognised for establishing a number of groundbreaking programmes in key HNW segments, most specifically for women and the next generation and has become the European spokesperson for these emerging audiences in financial services.

PRASAD KUMAR
Prasad Kumar is the Founder and Principal Consultant of the consultancy firm Human Endeavour. After 20 years in senior leadership roles in Indian Industry covering Strategy and Organisation Development, he started Human Endeavour in 1991. This niche consulting firm provides advisory services in Family Business, CEO Coaching, Process Consultation and Organisation Development.

He is the Family Business Advisor to several Indian Business Families and a Business and Leadership Coach to Working Directors and Chief Executives..In association with The Asian Institute of Management, Manila, he develops case studies on Indian Family Businesses.

JULIETTE JOHNSON
Juliette Johnson is Senior Family Business Adviser at Coutts & Co. In this role, Juliette is actively involved in advising family business owners on a range of issues from managing business succession to developing governance to preparing the next generation

She does a significant amount of work with the younger generations, designing bespoke programmes as well as participating on more general open programmes. She runs the Coutts Prize for Family Business and the Coutts Family Business Forums.

DAVID MOLIAN
David Molian is Chairman of the Cranfield Management Association and has been involved with entrepreneurship education at Cranfield since 1998. For several years he led the enterprise electives on the MBA programmes. Within the Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurial Performance & Economics he leads initiatives in executive education and is joint director of the Coutts Private Banking Academy Entrepreneurs Programme and the soon to be launched Family Business Programme.

CHRISTOPHER OUGHTRED
Shareholder and former Chairman of William Jackson & Son Ltd, Christopher worked for his family's business for 31 years, making him the fifth generation of family to do so. He was Chairman of both the company and “family” for 11 years as well as joint Managing Director for 18 years.

SIR ERIC PEACOCK
Eric Peacock CMG DL is a serial entrepreneur having cut his teeth originally with The Hanson Group prior to focussing on the fast growing SME sector.

He is Chairman of Baydonhill Plc, Stage Technologies Ltd, Stevenage Packaging Ltd, Halo International (Furniture Company), Buckley Jewellery Ltd, Mobile Technical Staff Ltd (Recruitment), Cimex Ltd (Web Development) and is also a Non Executive Director of BERR (Old DTI), a previous NXD of The Foreign and Commonwealth Office and has taken a number of businesses either to public listing or trade sale, notably Babygro Plc, Hospitality Plus Plc and Achieve Global Plc to name but a few.

ROGER PEDDER
Roger is probably best known for his time as Chairman of C&J Clark Ltd (Clarks Shoes) established in 1825 and one of the UK's largest and consistently successful family firms. Having initially joined Clarks in 1963 he left in 1970 and made a career in retailing which took in British Home Stores, Burton Group, Halfords and Harris Queensway.
Being 'fired' from Lowndes Queensway opened up a new world for him in which he founded Pet City and returned to Clarks as an NxD and ultimately as Chairman. Subsequently he has developed a range of interests as Chairman or NxD of a number of mainly privately owned often family companies and as Treasurer of the University of Bath.

ALEX SCOTT
Alex Scott is Chairman of Sand Aire, a company he formed in 1996 after leading the sale of his family’s business, Provincial Insurance, founded in 1903. Sand Aire is a full-service Multi-Family Office, delivering investment and family office services to several wealthy families and not for profit institutions.

He is co-founder and past Chairman of the not-for-profit Institute for Family Business (UK) and was previously a director of the Family Firm Institute Inc.
